Special Requirements

A blasting permit is required for the storage, manufacturing, selling, possession, or transport of explosives or blasting agents.

• First, the applicant must submit a Blasting Notification Form to the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.
• All applicable information about blasting requirements in Missouri can be found in the Missouri Explosive User Registration and Blaster Licensing booklet.
• A minimum of $1 million in the form of a surety bond or liability insurance policy is required by the City of Osage Beach for blasting permits.

Once the Blasting Notification Form is submitted to the Division of Fire Safety, the Osage Beach Building Department requires the applicant to submit a completed and signed Blasting Permit Application. Each permit has specific instructions and requirements, so please read over the packet carefully and provide the requested documentation through the Plans & Permits Form.

Processing Period

Permits and plans submitted are addressed in the order they are received. Commercial permits are typically issued within 10 to 15 business days, while residential permits are processed within 5 to 10 business days from the time of application. However, additional time may be required based on the complexity of the plan review, specific City or State requirements, or any outstanding fees or incomplete application details.

Blasting permits are valid for 10 days. The Osage Beach Police Department must be notified at least one hour prior to using explosives. The police non-emergency line is (573) 302-2010.
