Sales Tax Explained

Sales tax revenue represents a large portion of the City's revenue, on average of 45% of the annual operating budget. Osage Beach has a 2% sales tax on goods and services sold within city limits. It's divided up three ways:

  • 1% to the General Fund
  • 0.5% to the Capital Improvement Fund
  • 0.5% to the Transportation Fund

Marijuana Sales Tax

In addition, a 3% marijuana sales tax is applied to adult-use marijuana sales by licensed dispensaries within city limits. This tax goes into the General Fund for improvements and maintenance of parks and recreation, plus improvements to and operation of public safety services, including the Police Department, 911 Communications Center and Ambulance Service.

The measure was approved by Osage Beach voters in April 2023, and collection began Oct. 1, 2023.
